EV charging in Romania

In Romania IONITY is still not part of the official 24-country footprint, but Tesla Superchargers are available. For local coverage, e-charge, Eldrive and PPC blue matter most.

For your first trip

What to install before the border

A ready-made minimum set for Romania, so you do not have to work out on your own what works here.

01 Local apps

Renovatio e-charge, Eldrive, PPC blue . These are the first operators worth having for direct tariffs and starting a session.

02 Backup roaming

Plugsurfing, ChargemaporOctopus Electroverse. Keeping one of them as a backup is enough for chargers of different networks.

03 Fast charging on the highway

Operating in Romania: Tesla Supercharger, E.ON Drive / EDRI . For long trips, rely first on their DC/HPC hubs and the local fast-charging networks below.

Pan-European operators

Roaming and aggregators

These services help you find or start charging with different operators. They do not mean the physical station belongs to the aggregator itself.

In practice

What to check on the road

That matters more than how many apps you install.

01

Install at least one local operator app before crossing the border.

02

Keep one roaming/aggregator app as a backup, but compare its price with the CPO’s direct tariff.

03

For long-distance routes, choose hubs with several DC ports rather than a single station.

04

Before starting a session, check the power, connector, live status, tariff and any idle/parking fee.
