EV charging in Italy
A practical guide to your first EV trip in Italy: which local network apps to install, which pan-European operators work in the country and which roaming app to keep as a backup.
What to install before the border
A ready-made minimum set for Italy, so you do not have to work out on your own what works here.
Plugsurfing, ChargemaporOctopus Electroverse. Keeping one of them as a backup is enough for chargers of different networks.
Operating in Italy: Tesla Supercharger, IONITY, Allego, Shell Recharge, E.ON Drive / EDRI, ChargePoint, Atlante, Electra . For long trips, rely first on their DC/HPC hubs and the local fast-charging networks below.

What to check on the road
That matters more than how many apps you install.
Install at least one local operator app before crossing the border.
Keep one roaming/aggregator app as a backup, but compare its price with the CPO’s direct tariff.
For long-distance routes, choose hubs with several DC ports rather than a single station.
Before starting a session, check the power, connector, live status, tariff and any idle/parking fee.
Other countries
Move on to the next country on your route.
